Does it really improve acceleration and fuel consumption? I was thinking of getting one, but I just wanted to know if it's really gonna be worth investing in, cos it's pretty expensive here.
i have a K&N filter for my 97 rolla, what can i use to clean it out once the dust and stuff has gathered in it?
Bought mine on the net too same price...I just softly tap out the big stuff and whats left I use a nylon brush and gently brush in one direction side to side then use a vacuum to get all the stuff from the bottom of the case(you probably could use a vacuum brush on your filter also)...I haven't had to oil mine yet, but I don't see any MPG improvement just the convenience of never having to replace the filter ...Check it often especially in the spring and fall lot of tree crap will find its way in ......~Radd Guy
K&N sells a cleaning solution for their filters as well as the oil. As for the cleaning, my uncle has been using K&N filters in his cars, and he suggested that you just use that cleaning solution and let running water from a tap flow thru to wash out some of the dirt. Make sure the pressure is not too high though, cos the cotton fibers are pretty delicate. Leave it out to dry and apply some of the the oil that K&N sells.

I only had mine for a short while and just brushed it clean the first couple times because it looked pretty good and I hadn't picked up the cleaner/oil yet...Here's a site that will tell you all you want to know about cleaning K&N filters ~Radd Guy......
Careful with the cotton fibers. Try to keep them intact. If they come off they can get into the engine... that's why I say stick with the stock paper filters.
no milage improvement,. no power gain..? why use KN?
i was thinking to get one for my rolla 97, but none here mentioned any improvement...
I think he's only talking about a K&N filter as I am just for a replacement for stock drop in's...I'm sure using it with a CAI would inprove performance...I just changed mine to a K&N because its good up to 100K+ and for $40 it would pay off in the long haul...and is suppose to give me better air flow....I'm sure others here can explain this better....~Radd Guy~

Increases air flow... but it also increases the chance of getting dirt in your motor.. regardless of what anyone says. Basically yeah, increases performance in a way.
Don't use hot water, I learned that some twenty years ago with one; the cotton fibers swell up.
I just slap the thing on the concrete floor a buch and loosen up all the debris, use the cleaning fluid if you have it, then lightly re-oil.
The filters work well for improving airflow.
