Without knowing what motor you have in there we wouldn't know. Look under the hood, there should be a sticker on the inside of the hood with the motor information on it. Most likely either 1.3, 1.5 or 1.6 depending on what motor it had.

it should be the 4A-LC 8 valve carbed 1.6L BTW its a good engine i had a AE-82 indistructable

Some AE82s in other countries came with 1.3L Diesels too.

40 sounds right, just bring ur needle to empty and go will up to fuel...that should tell ya...
