The air bag light on my 97 Corolla comes on after my wife drives it for about 10 minutes. It never comes on when I drive, even over long distances. Shes's a lot smaller and lighter than me, if that matters.

Any ideas why and whether I should be concerned?

Is it sensor activated? We had an 05 Corolla rental for a month and the passanger side airbag would come on if my girlfriend put her handbag on the seat, maybe its a similar deal. Your wife might be light enough that the airbag sensor thinks there's not enough weight to be activated or something like that.

There must be a stored code in the airbag ecu.

Have it checked. I don't think they have seat sensors for the driver side.

Thanks for the response, guys. I don't know if it's sensor activated or not, couldn't find out much about it at all. I like the idea of checking the codes, it sounds like the best thing to try at this point.
