My Toyota Corolla 2001 model, needs oil change for every 300 miles. After 300 miles, oil level comes to below 'LOW' mark. Took it to dealer and seems to be problem with tgh cylinder in Engine (no warranty) and at this point I can not change engine altogether.
Is it Ok to drive the car with frequent oil change?..(for every 300-400 miles). What will be the effect on Engine if I continue to drive?..
thats alot of oil burning.. more than anything your going to get pulled over for it. other than that your probably wrecking the engine, (won't be rebuildable) i wouldn't bother changing the oil every 300miles just add to it then change it every 3-5k. Also use No-smoke type of thing or use heavier oil 20W-50 or something to reduce the burning. save because your engine will die soon... then you'll have to replace it ..

^^ yes. no need to do oil changes, just keep adding oil and do a filter change every 5K miles. Its just a matter of time till when you need a new engine...
wow thats alot worse of oil burning than mine.. yep just keep adding oil and it shouldnt be a problem. Also you could try adding some of the stuff that is supposed to seal your engine and not make it burn from getting through the rings. I know when i put it in, it acctually works pretty good and oil burning goes down dramatically..
snspar, do how many miles do you have in ur car?? if its under 60k i believe ur still under powertrain warranty. you should be able to get a new motor and was is tgh??
thats soem bullshit, cos when warranty was on and consumers complaining dealers were telling of the consumption to be normal.

I bought this car from a guy who bought it from dealer. Somewhere along the long, original engine of the car was replaced with other engine. So Toyota denied the warranty and dealer couldn't fix the engine. So I have no option but to replace the engine or use the defect one.
I am trying to see is it safe to drive with so much oil burning.. and how to minimize the oil consumption.
well... it's not really safe, cause say if u were driving on a highway and your on the fast lane next thing you know your eng. seized your screwed, if that dealer dont take your i sugguest you go 2 a different one. like i said again if its under 60k. if that dont work just dont say anything about that your eng. been replaced. call toyota corp... and hopeful if that happens i sugguest u take ur car 2 a different dealer

if your under 60K id chase that. they sold you a lemon with major problems they did the same to me and its been a nightmare because im a dumbass.
try to get ahold of the old owner see if you can get some receipts or info on the engine that was changed. go to the dealer where it was serviced see if they can give you a history on the car , get print outs!! ( just play stupid and don't talk to anyone you have talked to before) if you can prove toyota did a warranty replacement on that engine with the engine you have now you probably have something to go on.
Good luck, your not the first for stuff like this, don't give up do the consumption reports that toyota does and prove to them that theres a problem and don't quit till something is done..

or just pull the head, oilpan and rering that piston. It may be stuck rings from oil carbonizing in that cylinder. Reringing the one would be cheap and buy you more time to aquire an engine.OR, I have seen complete piston ring sets for 120 bucks at I think Arizona Wholesale Engine Parts. You could pull em all, hone em all and prb be in good shape for quite a while. These cylinders, if not scratched are very hard. I'll give that to Toyo. Its not easy to ruin a bore.
