Canada CAI in auto transmission

I was wondering how much hp do you gain by installing just the CAI on an auto transmission?

I've never seen auto transmissions with CAI on them.. I've only seen them on motors.

I'd say realistically.. 2-5hp if that, don't believe all that 15-30hp gain talk.

yeah your not really gonna gain a noticable amount of hp, so why not just get a short ram. They're cheaper, and they produce the same general sound as a CAI. For instance, I bought mine at Canadian Tire for $24.99 canadian.

Short ram is not good specially in hot weather.. you are making the engine breath hot air. You are better off to get a K&N drop in air filter and keep the original airbox. But CAI will be more beneficial.

the reason you get a cold air intake will improve your response and add a more agressive sound to your engine but it wont improve horse power that much. and if you search the forum their was a huge fight about this a little while ago it was so stupid

Sorry if it was a repeat...

but i did a search and found almost no auto tranny combined with a cai. for short ram intake, does that work on the same theory as the CAI?

when you say that it produce the same general sound? what do u mean...i dont want to attract too much attention that way...

k&n filters no modification needed, as in taking out the battery or anything for installation right? also does it really increase hp using just k&n filters?

yeah...i'm new at this :S

You mean an "automatic Corolla" not transmission.. you keep making it sound like you're putting the CAI on the transmission..

It's possible to put CAI on an automatic car, I wouldn't recommend it in the winter though.. you might get water/snow in it and if it gets to the motor.. bye bye 1ZZ!

Go with the K&N drop in.. it's probably better and safer I'd say because you're not bypassing and drilling and all the other fun stuff you would have to do with an intake. Filters usually just give you better response and probably like a 2hp gain.

I do it just for the sound... sounds better than having a big muffler.

And when you driving around downtown with a lot of ppl walking around... a loud engine sound will warn them that you are turning and actually look before crossing, sometimes scare them back onto the sidewalk too. haha

Why would you get an automatic if you care about performance?

The only thing that allows 4 cylinder cars to stay in their tiny powerbands is a manual transmission.

I'd say leave it alone, or sell it and get something manual if you want your car to be more responsive.
