94 Corolla CEL

just bought a 94 with only 65,000 miles on it, just a few days ago. Seems to drive fun other than is a little loud, and some of the belts squeal in the am. But, the check engine light just came on. The car is not overheating, just had an oil change last month, and doesn't seem to be having any problems. Does anyone know if this old of a model has the CEL come on when the gas cap is not tightened properly (I just filled it up last night)? Thanks.

with the engine off put a jumper between TE1 and E1 then turn the key to run position the light will flash:

( 4 ) ( 2 ) repeated this would be a code 42

after doing this come back with your codes and someone will tell you what they are and we can help find the issues
