1989 corolla 4a-f timing belt
What does it sound like when the timing belt tensioner goes out on a 4a-fe motor? Mine makes a very alarming rattle from that region when I let off the gas. Of course it could (oh god i hope) just be an exhaust problem pipe rattling...
At any rate I am sure that the belt has had more than the recommended 60,000 miles on it. How often do those things go out? Has anybody actually had one break, or skip time? I am used to chevy V-8 timing chains which usually last the life of the motor.
