HELP, I need Information

Hi! I'm new here, I'm thinking of buying a 97 Corrola DX 4dr 5 sp, it has Power, mirrors, windows and locks and cruise.with 46,400 miles, for comuting ( 396 Impala doesn't get good gas milage ) They are asking 6000 for it, but I'm thinking more like 4500, what do you guys think these cars are going for,I noticed when I pushed on the brakes I could hear something on the firewall, which sounded like the push rod for the master cylinder, making a noise, like you could hear it go in and out when the brake was pushed and released, is normal? I have never owned any small car before and don't know much about them, Pro's or Con's, any advice or problems that you guys have experienced would be helpful, also, does any body have access to a car fax, I could run the vin # on, Thanks,

WAAAAAAAAAAYYYY too much. I wouldn't pay anymore than $3000, and only if it's MINT.

Is it making a squeaking noise?

Thanks for replying, no it doesn't squeak, it's just feels like the pushrod for the master cylinder is sticky or something, like the bellcrank(if it has one) is mounted to the firewall about foot level, and you can hear(feal) it being pushed in and out, when aplying or realeasing the brake, no squeaks, just like it needs to be lubed. I know the 6 grand she id asking is way high according to Kelley B.B. and edmunds they are any where between 4200 and 5000 for that milage, the car is not in bad shape other than it needs to be cleaned, thourly(sp).I'm going to aaa today and get a carfax.
