I dunno if this would be the right place for this topic but what the hell. anyways to the point. i think the headgasket on my 95 corolla is goin and i dunno what to do i heard that head gasket repair is like $1000 not sure but i know its alot. anyways i dunno weither to sell the car while its still goin good or keep it till it dies, cuz my friend said he would sell me his 85 GTI for $700 it needs a few things nothing to serious but it has no rust and a good body. i just dunno what to do mabye someone here could help me out.

?!?!? A grand?!?!?! In all honesty it should only be around the $500 mark, you might as well get a new timing belt ande waterpump installed while its off. GTi is nice, but those things have more quirks than you'd prob want to get into... if you dont work on your own car and don't like troubleshooting electrical issues, STAY AWAY FROM THE VW.

^^^^^^ waht he said. Spend the 700 bucks on your Corolla and keep driving it. You say you think tgeh headgasket is going. You should take it and have it diagnosed to determine if there really isa problem with it. IF there isnt all the better. If there is it is not going to cost you $1000 dollars. Well I know it would here inteh states anyway I dont know about your prices up there. Hell you could probably find a used engine for less than that nad ahve it installed and be close to $1000. Especially in a Corolla. THose things are fairly easy to work on and there are only about 8 million of them onthe road. I say figure out what the problem is with the Corolla and go from there.

I would ahve to advise staying away from the VW also. IF you buy a 700 dollar car you get a 700 dollar car. When you buy a 700 dollar VW you get the car and more than likely someone elses problems. Then you are going to be putting more money and time into it than you would have the Corolla probably.
