My dad is having trouble finding tires for his 90 Corolla sedan. The stock tires are 155/r13. What is the equivalent profile for this tire size?
What alternative sizes can fit on the car to maintain the diameter and ride?
Or what 14s can he get cheap to fit and still maintain the overall diameter and ride.

That's not stock tires on those cars.. 165/80-13 or 175/70-13, that's what the car should've came with.
Thanks for the search, but tirerack is the first place I tried. They have zero 155/r13 tires.
REN69: 155/r13 is the stock tire size. Some may have come with 175/70/13 but that may have been for the DX model, the coupes, or in Canada. My dad's car has 155/r13 size tires. There's even a sticker in the glove box that says 155/r13 tires and how many PSI to inflate the tires.
I found that with 175/70/13 tires, I have more options, but I'm not certain whether the tire would fit on the rim properly. The salesman at Sears suggested this also.
go to any tire shop and they will tell you size that came on the car or the equivilent to what you have on it. SOme places can also tell you the max size you can put on the car without rubbing. my stock tires are 175/70/13.
Do white side wall tires usually have one side white and one side black?
Or do they have white on both sides? My dad doesn't want the white side wall tires.
I have a base model 90 Prism (identical to your Corolla) and it came with 175/70 13 tires. As for the whitewall issue just have the tires mounted with the whitewalls not showing.

go with the 165/80-13s then, they're just a tad thicker than the 155/13 tires. If not go to Walmart, they carry Marshals (made by Kumho) that comes in 155/13 size. if your dad wants a more comfortable ride, I would suggest stepping up to the 165s or 175s, they will fit the rim.
I wouldn't suggest any tire made by Khumo, they are cheap, I will say that, but don't expect more than 20k of wear on them. I have had them, called Khumo corp. in So Cal and they said so sorry no warranty! BTW I had them rotated and aligned on a regular basis.
That being said some people on tirerack like Khumo and have even received a good snow traction rating, there you have it.
I would suggest BF Goorich, from say Sams Club or Costco. I got a set of 4, BF Goodrich Touring TA from Sams for $260 US I think and they have a 70k warranty. They had a tad road noise, because they are a hard tire, but they also will last. Pros and Cons of tire, smooth ride, don't last, harder ride last a long time, usually.
Yeah the marshalls are made as a cheap tire, Khumo are ok IMO, I have a pair of 711s that are holding up just fine with highway driving, I haven't tracked them or beat them so I don't know what kind of limits they would be able to handle, but like I said they do great with regular driving, I've had them to 190km/h though.
