Tranny Stuck?

So i walked out fo the lcbo got in my car turn it over, went from park to reverse.....but couldnt get past reverse. Shut off the car, turn back on same thing. I eventually just started hitting the thing and it eventually popped into neutral and unsized the entire thing.

Any idea what the cause of this was? Froozen Linkage? Tranny problem? timbit stuck in the shifter?

Liter, not sure if your corolla is like mine, I have a 96 auto trans, next time that happens, if you have one, pull up the plastic cap that hides the shift lock override button, just to the left of your shifter on your car and then you can shift it that way. I would check the fluid level immediately. Next I would go to a mechanic you trust. No offense, but this could be a very serious problem that is above the DIY nature of toyotanation. Serously though, a rebuilt tranny could cost $1200 US on up! Don't drive on it more than absolutely necessary.

I was looking through my 93 service manual, apparently there is a "shift lock solenoid" if that gets cold or sticky that could be your problem. on a 93 its located by the shifter in the car on the passenger side.

Try going over the stupid little things before you jump to $$$$$$$$$$ conclusions

Also changing a transmission definately isnt beyond the average DIYers abilities overhauling one is though

WTF?

I wash the underside of my car all the time in the winter and have never heard of such a thing?

Something smells stinky at this dealership, but maybe it's just me?

Okay Liter, didn't mean to offend your uncle. Hmm, maybe I should get a grease gun. Where would I grease the linkage, this is a new one to me. It is common to get an undercarriage wash especially after the snow in Denver, which I think is import because of salts. Not sure what to do now

wd40 is a product used to repeal water.

Most womens use it to lubricate everything thats making noise. Notice that after 2 days, its all evaporated.

If you want spray can stuff, get white grease instead.
What I like to use, EZE Slide made my KleenFlo, best grease ever. (made for brake parts).
