Corolla All Trac Wagon Problems

Hi Y'all,
I have a 91 corolla alltrac automatic w/110,000 miles that has started to idle rough. I bought it about 6 months ago and it had been tuned up with plugs, wires etc. It runs fine once you get up to about 10-20mph.
At lights I have been dropping it into neutral and it idles smoothly. If i leave it in drive it acts like it will stall out. What should I check first? I hate to take it to the local dealer because they want to rebuild your whole car.
I appreciate your help!

That's awesome you have an alltrac, I wish I had one here in Denver today!

Honestly, just a shot in the dark, but consider repacing fuel filter, have fuel injection serviced or consider running some Seafoam through the brake booster line.

I wish I could be more help. Also to consider, if you or no one else on this forum can troubleshoot the problem, then as a last resort have the dealer just troubleshoot the problem and then you fix it to save some money. That's what I did with my EGR VSV valves last year, otherwise I would still have a check engine light on, lol!

Have you checked the timing?

Seafoam is something I dont even wanna think about, imho its just a gimmick, we've never used seafoam on race cars and probably never will. Having something put in the engine that was never designed to be done by the manufacteurer of the engine is a bit on the risky side.

Timing Belt Going Out?

I thought of the timing but the Toyota dealer I bought it from gave me the receipts of the work that had been done when I bought it. It was tuned up in June. I do not know if the timing belt has been changed at the recommended intervals. Could the rough idle be a sympton of a worn timing belt?
