Angry Be my decision maker!

I used to have Corolla for 16 years , Tercel for 14 years and now Camry 2005, I think I would like to buy brand new Corolla for my son when he finishes University, but he wants Civic. Now I do not know what to do. Please be my judge, which one is better between Corolla and Civic?
thx

Honestly, they're both great cars......get whichever is the better deal (factor insurance rate in) and tell him to live with it (if you get a Corolla). I'm with you on the long-term Toyota ownership - had a '75 Celica ST for 16 years, then a '91 Tercel for 14 years, now an '05 Corolla S You won't be making a bad purchase with either the Honda or the Toyota, obviously

Both are good, although my bias is with Toy obviously. Get consumer reports, go to edmunds.com and see what gets the better review. Combine that with the best price possible. Oh, go to edmunds and you can see the real invoice price, buy the car at the end of month and low ball them! I just finished a 5 year sales job, all salespeople are more desperate at the end of the month.

Yeah they're both basically equal, both made in Canada . The reason why he only wants a Civic is probably because they're so popular. I would rather take a Corolla S or an XRS over a Civic though. Ask him this question, why do you want a car that everyone and their grandma has??

My son said that Corolla is for old people, but look at Civic... all young kids and looks like sport though. I try to explain to him that most of Civic has problem with ball-joints, but my old Corolla had never been fixed for 16 years, only oil change, brake and muffler. But it seems he likes Scion Tc, unfortunately, it's not sold in Canada, damn. another thing is: Honda (Civic) is easier to be modified. That the today's kid. My decision is 80% for Toyota and only 20% for Honda.
Thanks, guys, for your smart advice.

To be honest..... and trust me, i practically breathe Toyota...... if he's the one graduating college and you've offered to help him (or gift him) get a car and you have 2 to choose from... the car you want him to have and the car he wants to have..... and the cars are similarly priced & reliable.... then I would say get him the car he wants.

let him choose his own car. Just make sure he tries a few out first. Just because we love our toyota's doesn't mean he will. It's his car and he will be the one thatr has to drive it all the time.

i second this one.. in the end he'll be the one driving it and he'll thank you for it. something happens to the Corolla.. you'll get the blame but if something happens to the honda you can always say.. you should have bought the corolla!

We all are right. Buy one the kid loves to have will make him happier, but if we buy one that we love him to have, the kid will be less happy and when thing goes wrong then we will get more blame, but if wrong with the Civic then we get no blame.
Thank you, all!

Both cars are great, but overall quality of toyotas have slight edge over Hondas. I personally prefer corolla, I have 98 Corolla and my brother in law has 02 Civic. Comparitively Corolla had less troubles and more power. My brother in law himself prefers Corolla.

I like Toyota more than Honda in quality talk, Toyota never gave me trouble ( Corolla, Tercel, Camry).

If the Civic paint is still as fragile as it was on my g/f's 03 Civic she had, then I would go Toyota.
