Iam looking forward to switch my stock muffler to the performance one, the TRD muffler costs about $650 and other after market stuff has a lots of resonance inside the car which I definately don't want. I need an honest advice about the good reliable and performing brand without any discomfort.
Mufflers dont really perform, only performance I regard mufflers have is the ability to tone down the noise. A bigger displacement car would probably flow better.
I have a flowmaster 40 series muffler on my XRS, and it sounds great. It also made my gas milage (went from 34 to 38 mpg) and low end power get a lot better than it was with the stock muffler. I only paid $150 for Mieneke to cut my old muffler off and weld the Flowmaster on in it's place. It looks kinda like this (not my pic but mine is the same):
I concealed it under my ground effects because it would have stuck out too low otherwise.

You've heard correct. I got better low end power and better gas mileage.

Haha, gaining mileage and performance doesnt happen in this world. But hey, its great living in a make believe world, where corollas beat V8 with I/E mods
Is it that hard for you to believe that the stock can, with 20 lbs of baffles, was not restricting enough to cause a loss in both mileage and power?
I got great mileage when I freed up my exaust, bad when I freed up the intake. More intake creates more feul usage, better exaust just makes things easier on the motor.
And why can't a corolla beat a V8? Ever heard of a fast car with a bad driver getting beaten by a slower car with a good driver? Probably not, you spend too much time on your computer chair and no time at the track?

Yes it is, because car manufacteurers nowadays aim for mileage.
And why can't a corolla beat a V8? - because the power difference is quite something, doesnt take much of a driver with a v8 to beat a corolla.
Probably not, you spend too much time on your computer chair and no time at the track? - Yeah I guess thats it.
Heres a pic of me racing on Alastaro Race track
Plus the fact that I ACTUALLY DO BUILD race cars for rally/track,with quite good success too. So I figure that I do actually know what I'm talking about.
But why do you constantly call people (me at least) liars on this board? I've not made up anything I posted, only reported what I've found to work/not work.
Every car responds differently to different mods, why can't you buy into that and believe what someone says?

He can;t believe it because he's right. :P Atleast I believe so. I don't thihnk my mileage went up with My Exhaust System..I also know once I added an itnake it got even worse.

No, i dont work for F1, and I never will, not my style of racing. I'm more of a rally guy.
Yup I build race cars, sorry pal, but thats the truth.
And to be more of a bitch, I'd like to hear you explain how a muffler increases combustion efficiency, since its got nothing to do with the actual combustion process to begin with.
