Transmission Leaks after new axle installed

I installed a new left axle (short one) and now it leaks where it connects to the differential but it drives fine. Whats wrong? Did I stick it in too far or not enough?

TIA!

Your old seal was all dryed up and now its damaged. Just replace the seal. I change axle seals everytime I change an axle on a customer's car. Save me some trouble.

roughly 10 bucks for an axle seal.

You might have a seperate differential, so don't be fooled by checking the ATF level and thinking that you are fine. Run the diff dry and you'll be calling the tow truck soon. As mentioned have to change the seal, probably a tear while installing the new axle-very common.
