does anyone know of any products that i can get that "stop rust"...?......

.....i have a little rust on my rear left fender and it would be sweet is i could get something to apply to the metal. Where could i pick up a product such as this......?.............ive seen em on internet sites but i dont want to buy online...

.i dont have the resorces or know how to cut it out and weld in a new chunk i was just hoping on stopping the rust and doig a patch job........help me....

If you dont plan on doing anything to it as of now then i suggest rust check. It will stop it for a couple months. If you actually plan on fixing it it depends on how bad the rust is.

On my fenders i had some with just topical rust and 2 that had eaten straight through.

With topical just grind off the rust using a sander or grinder depending on how thick your metal is. Then move to hand sanding till all the rust is gone, then body filler to smooth it out. Prime - sand - prime - paint.

The entire job should only take a couple hours depending on the primer and paint. Just make sure you get every bit of rust off. Total cost should only be about 30 bucks.

If you look at my cardomian site on the second picture, its hard to even tell that i did some home body work to that fender. It just takes time and patience.

If its not deep rust you can sand it out then bondo primer and paint but make sure you take the rust out completely(take out all the black spots that you can).

Sandblasting is really the only way to stop rust properly.

Yea sandblasting gets into all those little spots but you needa good air tank/air pump, you can also grind out rust.

Unless you grind really the first layer of metal off, you wont get all the rust out.

There are products that chemically change rust and leave you with a primer. We have the loctite brand at work. It is quite expensive, I belive it was over $100 for a bottle. I've tried it a few times and it seems to work pretty good.

But as far as body work goes its best to just cut the rust out and put in some good metal.

They "work". They take care of the surface rust sort-of, but the rust will come through, if not on the side you treated, the other side of the panel and then you have a hole.
There isnt any magic tricks to take care of rust, just plain mechanical removal.
