I have some grand plans for my 2003 S (when I finally get it). Does anyone have any thoughts on the max HP that can be obtained when the car is naturally aspirated? No turbo or nitrous or anything, just intake, headers, and exhaust and maybe some other mods.
Thanks!

I'd say +10-15hp max...
Intake being airfilter? or a new intake manifold with modded injector timing? and headers are useless unless you're going with a full exhaust, not just a cat back.
Instake meaning Cold Air Intake with just the stock manifold. Understood about the headers though without the full exhaust system. I'm deciding in advance cost on various items. I'm looking at Dynomax or Borla muffler for some decent sound. I'm not sure what cold air intakes are out there for the '03 S since it's such a new vehicle.
Thanks for the response!

Weird I just posted an answer and it never showed up... anyhow
I was just saying with a full exhaust system you'd probably be lucky to get 5hp with the cold air intake. Without the exhaust system, the poweraddition would be basically a "mental" boost. Although you'd get nice intake sounds

Too much for a ridiculous thing that you can do by your self.
check this out, thats my CAI http://www.mydestiny.net/~flashman/Pics/intake.jpg
Looks like more of a shorty intake.
go to www.newcelica.org and read up in the tech forum, its the same motor as yours and everything will bolt up, max HP from bolt ons alone is probably gonna be somewhere around 160-165 flywheel HP.
I know you're asking about your 2003 Corolla S, but I was at the Toronto Bike Show on Sunday and it was pretty amazing to see the 2003 R6. It's still 20v's but now it's fuel injected, output is over 200hp per litre and it'll rev to 16,000rpm. Simply amazing to me for $11,499 MSRP.
Anyone have any decent pics of the engine bay of the 2003 Corolla S? I'd love to get a long look at it without having to go to any dealers...want to know as much as possible before going in to look!
Also, has anyone used any of the TRD packages? I was checking out the TRD site and found some interesting items...didn't find much for the '03 Corolla yet...

I think that on a naturally aspirated you might be able to pull something like 25 extra HP with bolt-ons,
I got the headers, full exhaust, cold air intake and We are guestimating a 20 hp gain, There are a few things that can be mod.

it would be clost to 40-60hp gain... :o
one guy in www.corollacustomz.com with a 98 Corolla... got 168 dynoed wheel hp..so it's close to 180-190 flywheel HP....
running mid 15sec @ 97mph for 0-400....
but what true is... it would cost much $$$$... while u are able to use those $$ to either turbo or SC it... but what i heard that guy said was... he was gonna put the TRD supercharger on his ride.. if the SC fits 98 corolla....
so... a 240hp Corolla?? :o :o
