Checked out the damage on my suspension today.

I had a look at the suspension to day. Nothing seems to be broken appart. I also found that my dad was telling the truth. It appears that one of the privious owners of this car was a ****en moron. They used a 9/16 nut as a replacment for a 14mm. From what I could see the suspension has shifted forwards 1-2 inches and droped about 1.5 inches. I also belive the part that the nut was screwed into is stripped and will need to be replaced.

This did how ever give me the oportunity to remove that gay *** stabalizer bar which was doing nothing but eating up storage space in the hatch.

Any one want a stabalizer bar that probably does nothing for $5?

waht part of the suspension are you talking about? your descriptions are very vague..

also, i assume you mean the ghetto rear strut tower bar when you say "stabalizer bar"?

That would be it. And you can have it back if you want cuz I found it was always in the way. One of the 2 nuts that were holding it in place was the incorect size. It was 9/16 when it should have been 14mm. Also looking in diagrams there should have been 2 nuts on there in stead of 1. I belive the second one was supposed to be a lock nut.

My shock absorber is no longer where it should be. It has dropped down a bit. The wheel is almost inside of the wheel well now and it has been shifted forwards as well. The lateral control rod seems to be shifted forward a bit as well. So now I'm starting to wonder if my control arms are busted. When I said nothing looked busted I was just looking at the spring, strut, lateral control arm and axle. I forgot to check the control arms!?!

I'd like to see the car from the under side but it is hard because it is really cold out, my drive way is uphill and I don't ever see day light. I could have used my garage but it is full of Burger King equipment and I don't think it is going any where any time soon. They say it is supposed to warm up a bit and get out of the negitives some time this week but that's what they said last week.

Since it is too ****en cold to even attempt to fix this I think I'll just take it to a mechanic. And while I'm getting that fixed I can have a few small things fixed as well. I know I can esily fix the small thing but like I said before it's just to cold out now.

You should drive to some indoor parking lot that's lit well, bring a flashlight and a digital camera and takes some photos. Post them up and we'll all put in our two cents but if you're talking about shifted suspension components, it sound like something is either bent or broke. You sure your dad didn't do some serious damage?

I could do that but....

1. The closest place like that is 30-45 minuets away. We don't have any lots like that in Burlington. Also would you continue driving around for a fair amount of time knowing your suspension is ****ed? I think that would do more damage than good.

2. I don't got a digital camera.

the top nut on the rear shocks arn'et lock nuts.. they're just normal nuts.. and what does it matter if it's a different size? as long as they thread correctly, it does not matter in this case

if you broke anything as serious as your control arms you would know about it. put it this way, i'm sure you've seen pics of my crashed red car, the control arms survived that crash (some bent a little, but they didn't break)

don't jump to such extreme conclusions before you have a real look.. these cars are really old, you're going to find all kinds of funky shit with them.. if you keep reacting that way, you're going to give yourself a heart attack one of these days

No heart attacks but mabey drive me to drink. At least we know I can't drink and drive with a busted car. LOL!

Now the only problem is finding a good mechanic. All the ones my dad knows will give me a good deal but not fix anything right. I don't trust those mother ****ers. My friend said he has an good honest mechanic so I may bring it to that guy. It's ether that or the dealership and we all know how over priced the dealership is. Also I wanna talk to the mechanic my self that way I can find out if my dad hit something or if every thing just poped out of place.

well it doesnt' really sound to me like you've actually determined that anything is actually busted on your car yet..

if its just that that ghetto rear STB popped off ,that's nothing.. taking it off and put the nuts back on, easy peasy..

to check the rear suspension, jack up the rear axle, get a flash light and crawl under there and look around

highly unlikely those control arms are damaged in any way...unless your dad drove rally of the tall pines and smacked ass end into a tree at full tilt.

try to get pics up...because your descriptions are not helping that much

like many have suggested, get a flash light, jack up the rear end and go looking....the 15min in the cold is a far better trade off than shelling out how many hundreds of dollars to a mechanic to tell you whats wrong and then fix it.
