So I have a chance to pick up a Corolla SR5 with 115,xxx kms and its a 5 speed, my questions are is the sr5 tranny the same as the gt-s's? and what other parts could I get off for spares for my gt-s other than the body parts?
Chances are the SR5 transmission is probably a C50 where as the GTS comes with the C52, so yeah other than body parts and other miscellaneous stuff, that's pretty much it.
C52 has taller gears to accomodate the extra RPMs on the 4AGE redline. I have a C56 from a blacktop 20V waiting for my C52 to die on the 89 GTS.. even taller gears on 3rd and 4th but I think 5th is about the same.
<---- drives an sr5... isn't to bad. But is nothing Compared to an ae86's 4age though... So probably same thing with the difference between the ae92 sr5 and gts. BUt still a fun car 115,000 is nothing :O. All I have had to do to my car in 5 months is replace a balljoint. Which I broke by hitting ice and climbing a curb barely moving :p. and I beat the shit out of this poor car :p just takes it
freakinbox you should try driving a ae92 gt-s lot funner than a 8-6 if you ask me. Well I was wonder cuz my dad found a 91 sr5 with 115xxx 5 speed at an autopac sale and I was wondering if there was much I could switch over guess ill pick it up if it has a mint body.

well driving an sr5 and gts wouldn't be insanely different. The 86 was just so much fun because it's rear wheel. I liked how when I floored it the rear of the car went down rather than the front of the car going up. Also when you put the pedal to the floor mid turn lol the extra head room was nice too.
umm when the front goes up the rear still goes down lol but I know what you mean I used to have a rwd v6 4.0 ford ranger I like the psuhy feeling and torque....
an RWD can lose control easier when flooring it (if you have enough power to break traction) the rear will come loose to the side. Ever seen that MR2 video of that kid losing control and smashing into those other cars... what an idiot
I have a C50 in my 89 SR5, and had a C52 in my 89 MR2. The MR2 definately had a higher top speed! Course, that was a 4age. Now it has the C56... but I haven't driven it yet!
You'll like it, I fell in love the first time I drove the car it felt like it had 300hp, then later that day I went looking on the net to find out how much power and 130hp lol I was surprised still bought it to.
