E58 ae101 levin tranny, which mechanical speedo drive works?
I've got a full AE101 4agze swap done in my ae92 sedan, and I need a mechanical speedo drive sender to replace the electronic one that came in the E58 from japan. Anyone know what part I'm looking for or even better, where to find it?
Thanks!
Mike
Well yeah.. you probably need either Levin or Trueno GTZ for it as they go from left to the right side of the firewall whereas the GTS one doesn't criss-cross.
Maybe try another car with an E series transmission.
C series won't work..... the c-series trannies have their gear go in straight from the top, the E series go into the side, then have a 90* bend in them to face upwards.... you need one from an e50 or early e58

2nd gen mr2 is electric. You could use the physical drive (because the elbow comes apart) because the part that goes into the tranny itself is the same, but you would still need the mechanical part from an e51

um, those are AWD..... not sure what tranny the 5sfe uses, though..... i'm pretty sure it isn't an E series..... i guess i could go check the n/a 93 tranny that's sitting in my garage, lol

i just checked.... if it is an E series, then for the 5sfe blocks it uses a different bellhousing than for the A series.... the speedo drive gear bolts into the bellhousing..... the mr2 (and i would assume for a camry or celica it would be the same, as the only difference is the location of the shift cable linkages) tranny (93) has a setup very similar to a C series.

Actually, the trannys in the ST165 and ST185 are basically E153s with a transfer case bolted on, internally they are the same. So if the ST165 or ST185 use a cable, then it should work.
