Door Ajar Button

OK I assume everyone knows about the door ajar button on the door, and mine is all buggered up on the drivers side, I can be going down the road, and it will turn on. I stop, open the door, and push the button with my finger. The light goes off. When I push the button, it makes a creaking noise (probably lack of grease). Do you guys think it's that simple? Because it's quite annoying listening to the radio and having that friggin beep beep stuff going on in the background. Grease or electrical? Let me know

Should be simple to pull out the switch and visually inspect it. Mine just have one phillips screw holding them in place. When you get it out check for rusty/corroded contacts and clean if necessary. Then give it a shot of WD40 and work it back and forth. This is a no cost check/possible fix. If the switch is no good you can probably get one at the autowreckers for next to nothing. When you put it back make sure there is good metal to metal contact for proper ground, unless its an insulated one . . .
