Mounting an iPod

I just got a 2006 Corolla S and I was trying to find out where others have mounted their iPod into their Corollas? I was sitting in my car today and I was trying to find convenient locations for where I could mount it, but I couldnt really find any location that looked good and had good functionality. Im going to use the USA Spec adapter if that helps, but I plan on installing that under the seat or behind the dash. Im going to tuck all the wires as best as possible. My main concern is where I can mount or dock it. Any one have pics of where they mounted theirs? If you installed an iPod into a 9th Gen Corolla, Im dying to see what it looks like and where you placed the iPod. Thanks in advanced.

I dunno if you want to put a magnets anywhere near an iPod ... computer equipment and magnets don't really mix too well.

I would use velcro tape and mount it underdash on the LHS of the steering wheel. To take it out to add a few more tunes you just have to open the door and squat down. I have a buddy who mounted one in his car way up underneath on the RHS of the wheel. He has to flatten the drivers seat and do the old lay backwards with your head upsidedown thing to reach it.

I was over at his place a few weeks ago and when I him doing this I asked him if it wouldn't be easier to just burn the songs onto cd? heh

Ipods run with a hard drive, so a magnet wouldn't work too well. I'd say go with the velcro. Since their isnt much room on the right hand side,

I'd go with the left underdash

The smaller ones use solid state memory but the larger ones 10 GB and larger use small hard drives.

Has anyone used any sort of dock or stand for their iPod in their Corolla? Im just curious to see how good it looks and how well it works. I think I might have not described what I want correctly, but I want full control and visibility of the iPod and the contols/buttons.

EDIT: The shuffles and nanos are all flash based. All the other ones use micro-hard drives, including the Mini.

I had mine attached to the boot of the hand brake using the belt clip that came with it.

iPOD

I KEEP MY 4G 20 GIG IPOD IN THE POCKET BEHIND THE SHIFTER (MY CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC). I HAVE THE ALPINE HU WITH THE IPOD INTERFACE. THE CABLE IS ROUTED THROUGH MY CENTER CONSULE AND IS BARELY VISIBLE. I HAVE ALSO TRIED THE IDOCK (FITS IN THE CUPHOLDER AND HAS A CRADLE FOR IPODS). I WOULDN'T MOUNT ANYTHING DIRECTLY TO YOUR IPOD (VELCRO,TAPE ETC) IF YOU PLAN ON REMOVING YOUR IPOD. IT WILL SCRATCH THE CHROME BACKING.

who cares about the chrome backing.. besides.. ive done this too i usually just hold it cuz i change the song to damn much to leave it down.. haha.. but i usually just stick mine in the cup holder, cuz i have a protective black rubber casing around my ipod.. so no worries about it being scratched or anything.. ahh i love my 60g video playing beauty.. almost like having a baby dvd player..
