European Union Toyota OEM 90915-YZZA1 vs. F1

Hi.

I've been running the OEM YZZF2 filter on my Vibe (1ZZFE engine), but I had the opportunity to pick up a few OEM YZZA1 filters from the local dealership recently for next-to-nothing. I understand that there are construction differences between the A1/A2 filters and the newer F1/F2's, mainly being the way the media is layered in a different manner. However, does anybody know what else Toyota/Denso did differently on the newer filters? Is it the same media? Did the old A1/A2's have silicon ADBV's as the new ones do?

Any preferences one way or the other for either filter type?

BTW: Yes, I know that the A2/F2 is designed for the 1ZZFE engine. However, the local Toyo service department says that the difference in fluid capacity is so small it's a non-issue when it comes to oil pressure (they claim to use A1/F1 filters on warrantied 1ZZFE engines when low on filter inventory).

Thanks,

Cougar Vibe
