Just wanted to ask you Corolla owners if you have had any problems with your car. I am interested in reports from those that own 2000+ models. I really need to know this because right now I am torn between purchasing a New Beetle and a Corolla. Is the Corolla really as good as is critically acclaimed? I would like to know every problem that you may have had no matter how small. Thanks, I look foward to your replies.
You are on a Toyota Board. I doubt anybody who didn't back totyota's would be on this board. I think you would get a better response asking what cars not to buy. I have a 99 (pre vvt-i) and love it I've replaced the brakes, fluids and filter it the 60,000 miles I've put on it. Plus it's kind of hard to determine a cars reliability if it hasn't been around for more than 5 years, that's when (from my experiance) is when cars show there true colors.

well it kinda depends on what motor you are looking at in the bug? you looking at a new model? the 1.8t or the 2.0? The VW is a better built car, however the corolla does have legendary reliability, and are generally inexpensive to maintain. The VW does cost more, and depending on the motor can be very costly in the long long term (7-10 years)....
My advice is to buy what you want, both are great cars, so you really cant go to far wrong, buy what feels better when you are sitting in the drivers seat..dont believe everything you read, i can find you an article for almost any car that says a its the best, then in a different article that it sucks.... Toyota and VW are premimer auto makers, your buying quality reqardless what badge is no the trunk!
i love my corolla S, only thing i guess would be the engine noise, it's quite loud on cold start, and hard acceleration...but hey it sounds like a intake. but ya the corolla S is a good car,
VWs are way too expensive

A car being loud on cold start isnt a problem, its just natural, because less oil flow is in the system and the oil is "thicker" in the cold, so you get some rattling in it.
What is the point in getting the Corolla S if it has all the same specs as the base model? Just save your self $4.5k and go base if you want a Corolla. Then dump that 4.5k into mods and laugh at the fool who bought an S cuz now you paid the same and you have a faster better car. Of course there are those who would like sportier look. But I'd go base.
All I can say about the Beatleis when I me and a friend were in one we felt like a gay couple shopping for a car. : That flower holder is a real turn off. In my personal opinion it seems more like a womans car to me. But this is exactly that an opinion.
