Help with screeching noise when turning the steering wheel

My girlfriend's mother has a 94 Toyota Corolla and she has a problem with her steering. It's a VERY loud screeching noise when she turns the wheel. It'll get noticeably louder the more you turn until finally you have cut the wheel the whole way at full turn and its LOUD! It makes the screeching noise both way you turn the wheel left and right.

What do you guys think it is? Something with the power steering??

Thanks guys!

Likely a loose belt. If it's got a tentioner you may be replacing that, if not just adjust it to put more tention on it.

^ What he said. It's probably a loose/improperly tightened power steering belt. 93-97 Corollas dont havea tentioner, so it probably just needs to be properly tightened.

Check the P/S fluid level just in case (don't drive it if theres no P/S fluid!).

Just a side note: I wouldnt turn the wheel all the way in one direction to the point of lock as it puts stress on the steering rack.
