ae92 exhaust..

my exhaust is rattling and stuff, so I'm gonna be on the market for a new exhaust pretty soon (not too soon i hope) so which one should i get guys.. i got a few choices..

something like this with a silencer that can be taken off...

or something like this.. (ae92 have dual-tip exhaust anyways so I'm really liking this style )

OR should i go for the old mugen style one, only cuz i know where i can get one really cheap, without a tip though

what do you guys think? which one will probably give better performance to a 4age, which one will be quieter on the highway(which is something I'm looking for), which one will look better and not too ricey, which one will be all of the above
any suggestions and comments are welcome.

Heres a suggestion, get the piping redone from the exhaust manifold back. It won't cost as much if you get it done at the same time as just a muffler and it will increase performance. I like the look of the can mufflers on small jap cars.

a muffler ain't gonna do fuck all for performance.

personally, i'd like a fujitsubo legalis or 5zigen border cross....tight in my mind.

Nick, have you seen the bends in our stock exhaust? Anything cat-back or manifold-back will improve performance. 2 inches would probably be perfect for the stock 4ag. 2.25" diameter might be to big but I'm still not totally sure. Anyone replace their exhaust on their 4ag's and have advice?

It's doubtful that the increase in diameter for that 15 inches of pipe will help you much. Or as Nick so elequoently put it, 'a muffler ain't gonna do f**k all for performance.'

You may as well go for the 2.25". Do you really want to pay another $300 after you pick up say, a set of cams?

TRDragoon: xenon's car is a 4afe.. i think they came with single tip only, not 100% sure.. but the 4age's came with dual tip. The dual tip muffler is really looking good so far, I might go for that.

Deep: I was thinking of doing the whole thing from the manifold to the back.. plus I'm also looking at getting TED to make one of their custom headers for my car.. around $500 though but it should be worth it.

Edwin: I like the one you posted too.. but I wonder how loud that is on the highway. I like the ones with the silencer, cuz i heard they're not too bad for sound on the highway.. with the silencer on of course.

I got my exhaust looked at today, and to my surprise the damn thing is in pretty good shape.. probably done before I bought the car which was in january of this year and it looks like it's original Toyota piping.. apparently the reason why it was banging against the car was because it had a lot of tension going upwards, so when I hit the bumps it would bounce up and sound like it was gonna fall off.. the guy put the heat gun to the pipe and he was hanging from the pipe to stretch it.. it should be ok now he said.. we'll see. I'm still thinking of new muffler and headers though.

If you like it and can afford it, I'll say go ahead and change it.
