suspension for 00 CE

hey guys

im new to the forum..i drive my parents 2000 corolla CE once in a while...im pretty happy with the 0-40 pick up lol but the steering feels real loose going around corners so i was wonderin' what you guys think i should add to bulk up the cornerin' capabilities. i really don't care for a lowerin', just somethin that will help me handle well and if you guys have any tips to get a little boost in power from the 40-70mph range

thanks in advance guys

honestly, if you want to tighten the suspension, you'd end up lowering the car at least slightly. get a set of Hotchkis sway bars(THESE HELP TREMENDOUSLY!), a set of stiffer struts(Bilstein, Tokico), and a set of springs that provide a slight drop. you can't do just one part of the suspension and expect it to have a major effect in handling...it's a joint effort between all parts of the suspension.

as far as power goes...i'm not sure what you're asking. are you saying you want a boost of 40-70hp?

The MOST important thing that will help you take those corners better is a set of good tires. That should be your first mod if you plan on maintaining that stock setup. After, get a set of swaybars (which will help reduce body roll). If that doesn't satisfy you, you'll need to get lowering spring and stiffer shock (preferably adjustable). By then, your parents might be angry with the amount of modification you've done to thier car so you might as well go for a full weight reduction and chassis bracing. When in doubt, go in the order I listed above.

1. Tires & Wheels
2. Swaybars
3. Spring & Shocks/Struts
4. Weight Reduction (help with the 40-70mph)
5. Chassis (strut bars and underbraces)

If you actually follow through with any of these modifications, do them one at a time and spend a lot of time identifying how they have changed the handling dynamic of the car.
