Thumbs up

I changed my cluster not long ago on a 96 corolla. If the shape is the same you should have no problem at all and the plastic should work. It is usually plug and play. In my case since my corolla used to be very basic I had to run a wire to the distribuitor on the hood and plug it in order for the tach to work. However this is not usually the case. I bought my cluster at a junk yard and it was only about 50 bucks with 50k on it
Good luck
Let me know how it goes.

Yeah I swapped too. Plastic should fit. Speedometer assemblies will not swap between the two... so you wont have the right mileage on the odometer.

For me it was plug and play, just hooked all the wires up the same as to the non-tach cluster.

Just did the tach swap as well on my '96, the only thing that's been a problem so far is that the fuel gauge is completely off. The light'll come on when it's honestly close to empty, but other than that the E on the gauge corresponds to about half-full or a third full for 'real' fuel level.

Hey guys,

I wanted to get some more replies from this as I'd like to do the same thing as rfragachan.

How many of the 94's are plug and play with the tach-dash? Is there an easy way to find out without ripping the dashboard apart?

It definitely looks better with a tach!

edit: It seems like Ukrainian102 had luck with it here: '95, Looking for Tachometer

I just wanna see if it's the same for the '94s. Mine's the "Special" so could anyone tell me if this is one of the models that was designed to accept a tach? Thanks.

Question

Can anyone help me out?

I'm hoping I don't need to spend hours taking the dash off just to find out I need to get a lead coming off the block or at the fuse panel at the least.

I'm reluctant to convince you to do anyting based on just my word, but I did this conversion, too, and it was a simple plug and play. Getting the old one out was very easy, and the new one popped right in. Even the fuel guage works fine. Anyone want to buy a non-tach cluster? That thing is boring!

Is yours a '94 also? So far I've seen good plug and play with a '95... hoping there's no difference.
