Exclamation 1zz-FE mods

1999 corolla VE (1zz-FE)

i just recently got this car and i'm looking for some up-front performance mods, my budget for now is under 500-600 dollars, and i'm trying to find the best combination for max HP while still maintaining fuel efficiency. [but if fuel efficiency is lost, that's fine too]

i already have short ram intake installed and i'm looking for more mods so pleasehelp!!

thanks

To make more power you need to use more fuel, thats a fact, no way round it.
If you care about fuel economy don't mod your engine.

If i were you i'd spend the money on the suspension and get it handling nice.
HP is expensive.

you can cheat some power out of the car dude. but very limited because the vvti system can remap itself to compensate for any change in af ratio and stuff.

want more hp?
-lighter flywheel.
-gut cats (cheap) , or custom piping (about 100).
-SAFC (best).

yep which is why i chose to do mainly suspension work on my car.
i believe the supercharger for 1zz-fe will not fit 8th gen too well. you'll have to cut the hood or do some sort of weird arrangements for it to fit properly. an option would be to turbo charge it, which is my least favorite. mainly because of the torque steer that is caused by boost. it's recommended to have to install a LSD (~900$) so that you dont lose traction. all of this is a lot of money. to make run right, i'd estimate about 5000-6000 dollars.

Huh?? Thats not what vvti does. All it does is adjust cam timing, not mixtures.

-A lighter flywheel won't give more power.
-Gut the cat. May give a small increase, But is that legal where you are??
-SAFC. Will provide a small increse but probably isn't that cheap.

For that you could do springs wheels and tyres, would be alot of fun after that.

yea thats what i've heard, the engines before the 1zzfe like the 4A-fe and 7A-fe arent as well tuned already but that they're easier to mod BECAUSE it didn't come tuned very well, then the newer model cars (03+) have stuff to mod with just because they're newer and they're sportier and more stylish looking to mod, so basically mine is difficult to work with

Whiterolla,

In order to feel any added hp gains, at least 15-20whp should be acheived.
Anything less than that would be just a waste of $.

I'd save what you have now and invest in a reliable turbo/supercharger kit as Evil Corolla S stated. Or...a 2zz swap.
