HAynes doesn't make anything for the 20V. You best shot is at Club4AG' site where they have the posted threads. That's what I've used and learned from to do mine.

Just to help the newbies here, would you post where you got the 20V swap guides that you already have?? Sure appreciate it. My '91 could use a 160 hp motor, what is the 4AFE stock, about 105 hp??

To replace a 4afe its pretty easy, You'll be able to run your stock gearbox, but you'll need a 4age flywheel and clutch. All the engine mounts line up. All you have to sort out is Intake exhaust and the wiring. If you have a complete loom its not to hard, If not it takes quite a while to nut out whats what.

I've helped out on one 4af to 20v swap that was more of a headache as the body looms did not plug together and we had to sort out fueling for EFI.

stock 4afe has 110 I think. The 4af that I have has 90. but it doesn't matter about the 4af engines since he has an ae86?

this might be true in New Zealand where the 4AF and 4AFE came with C52 transmissions but in North America they came with C50s, only the GTS came with C52s, I don't think the 20V will get along with the C50 that well. It will fit, but the C50 is geared towards economy, not high revs.

I've seen a few hooked up to c50's not too bad but the short first gear is kinda crappy. Yea c52 is the way to go.

Or a c56 like me

From the few RWD 20v setup i've seen the main problems are the water lines, (ie. the thermostat housing fouls the firewall). And the dizzy (smae problem).

Do you know what you guna do to solve those?

To solve that the post(s) from Club4AG will show you how to relocate the the water housing for the RWD conversion. As for your Dizzy you can bang out the firewall back several inches or what I did was use the Ford EDIS4. To say, I use Megasquirt and the Ford EDIS4 setup that eliminates the ingition use of the the distributor. Never the OEM wiring, its sometimes complicated and a pain for the RWD's. Plus you get the freedom of tuning aspect under your belt. The Knowledge of Megasquirt is the best if you ever plan a swap.

The Megasquirt can be purchased from several site; DIYAUTOTUNE.COM and SPARKANDFUEL.COM. Using the Ford EDIS4 as a DLI type ignition can be read in the Megasquirts site. They do nice writeups on the setup. On Club4AG's site in the Engine and Drivetrain there's a POST for a 20V Setup. It gets into some detail of that setup including the water lines. I currently run that Ford EDIS4 with Megasquirt2.2; Megasquirt is also been modified to MegasquirtN'Spark. That allows the MS, Megasquirt, to control spark output through the Fast Idle, FIDLE, output to the EDIS. Tuning is so simple and better than OEM. The Megasquirt forum has a dedicated forum just for the EDIS setup and use. I got all my answers from there before the initial hookup to my 20V racecar. No more OEM dizzy whether you run FWD or RWD.
