jammed starter???

dunno if this is a repost. lasnite when i start my car, the engine is on but you can hear a sound from the engine as if you're still turning on the car keys (engine is on). i shut the engine but still i can hear the sound from the starter (as if someone is turning on the keys) ..it stopped only when i disconnected the battery. if i reconnect the batt i happen again. what do u guys think? is it the starter? coz if it is i want to DIY...i'm using the smallport 4age..thanks

Your solenoid is stuck. I don't know exactly how the Corolla starter is set up, but in some cars it is right on the starter, in others it can be mounted elsewhere. You may be able to unstick it by giving it a couple whacks with a hammer or other heavy object (careful not to break anything, of course). To find it, it will have a big wire coming from the starter and another going to the battery, and another small wire or two attached as well.

If you do get it unstuck, you probably should get it replaced as soon as you can.

its right on the starter, this condition where the starter won't shut off is dangerous it can cause a fire in the starter or wiring, get it looked at.

its caused by the contacts in the solinoid welding or melting together

yup..i take out the starter and have a look at it. i tried to connect it directly from the batt, all i can see is a non stop spin from inside the starter.will get a replace of the solenoid.
Another thing, while getting it unstuck i can see fire spark when it touches the engine itself (batt still connected) and it happens a few times. will it affect the whole wiring of the car coz i'm afraid after i fix the starter then comes another problem(ie wiring failure). sorry coz i'm still noob in car matters.

Where exactly do you see the fire? If it's where the starter casing touches the motor, and while you have it unbolted, it's probably just because the starter is not getting a real good ground and will not happen when you bolt it back in place.
