Is the leaking like a deep hollow hiss? If so that is how they sound, I love it. I also like the vacuum sound when you shut the car off.
The CEL can be from many things, but it is probably either a dirty MAF sensor or the result of cheapo no-name intakes. Did your intake come with all the correct hoses and what-not? I know on my XRS there is a hose off of my intake for a "smog pump" and another for the MAF sensor. If I take the smog pump hose off it throws the CEL.
Another thing to watch for is warming your motor up properly. If I start my car up and get driving right away I get a CEL, I have to let it warm up a minute until the smog pump shuts off (the tach revs to 2K rpm for a while while the pump is on, I know it is off when the needle settles back to 1K rpms).
Put your new intake back on. Try resetting your ECU by unplugging your battery for 10 or so minutes. Then reconnect it and start the car up. It should die the first time it starts but the second time it will fire right up. Then let the car idle a while to relearn the A/F mixture. Then go drive it around and see if the CEL comes on.
I paid extra for my Injen intake because I trust the brand and know that they R&D things before they slap their name on them and sell them. Lots of people have lots of trouble with cheap intakes.
Good luck! Let us know how it works out (if at all)
