Brake In Mark Reached; Now what?

:o I just got to the 1000Miles Brake in mark and now what?

I drove my car very very slow and easy for the first 1000 Miles. There was one occacion where I run it at 75MPH and I remembered I did not have to do it and I freak out! I hope I did not do anything bad to the engine.

During the first 1000 Miles and I was very easy on the car not going any where close to 4000 RPM, how high can this thing go? This is my first time owning/driving a Toyota Corolla. How do you guys shift? I do most of mine changes at about:

1st Gear @ 15-17MPH
2nd Gear @ 24-28MPH
3rd Gear @ 28-30MPH
4th Gear @ 35-55MPH
5th Gear @ 60 and UP

Is this how corollas should be handle at? or can it take harder punishment?

Thanks,

Louis

well....i dunno much about the new corolla...but on your owners manual, it'll tell you the recomanded speed to shift....on my AE92, its roughly 3500RPM then shift up.....check your owners manual.

i say drive another 500~1000miles then get it oil changed! when my friend was getting his first oil change on his new car at 4500km (2812miles) it looked like black syrup! :o !!!

First thing: change the oil & filter now then drive it however you want. If you have a tachometer (I think they all do) the portion in red shows you how far you can push it. A rev limiter is standard so you can't overspeed the engine.

Naah, going 75 wont harm the engine, modern day metallurgy is so developed that the tolerances in the engines are so small, that in some cars theres not really any period to break it in even. I'd just drive my car normally and just not race it during the break in period.
