AE92 AE92 Questions?

I own a 89 Corolla GT-S I was needing a few things for my car but finding great difficulty finding them, I am looking for a Mass air flow sensor because my car has been idling continusly it just keeps jumping and i took it to a mechanic and he told me its the MAS. Also I am needing a southern gas tank for my car, I need the whole assembley not just the tank and I called Redi Rad but they can only locate the tank... i was hoping someone could explain all the parts that a "southern Tank" would have? I was hoping to locate all the parts besides the tank because i can get a hold of that, so if someone could give me a list of whats in the gas tank that would be great thank you.

Oh one more thing ..... I was wondering is it possible to stick a air intake into my car I went to a place called extreme and they told me I couldnt because I had a MAS? Any info would be great I really want to stick one in my car.

holy crap.. I've been thru these two questions a few times before..

You mean the AFM (Air Flow Meter), yes you can put a filter but you need an AFM adapter bracket to put a filter on it. I'll post pics later on as I'm not at home.

For your jumping idle, do this. Find the idle screw, then raise the rpm until it doesn't jump up and down anymore (probably about 2000rpm) then leave it there for a minute or two. Then slowly start to lower it until it hits about 900-1000rpm. Hopefully this should get rid of your jumping idle. I've done it a few times already and it works.

thanks for the idea about the idle thing but my mechanic already tried that it did help the problem a little bit its not jumping as much as it used to but it still jumping, what originally happened was my air tube cut open and i think that originally started my idling problem then i tapped it up but didnt put enough tape so the tape didnt work i then after took the tube off again and put some serious hardcore tape on it so now i knew that was no longer the problem. Oh sorry the first time i put tape it did fix my idling problem but the day after it started again I didnt realize the tape came off though so the mechanic told mesomething about that extra air i was sucking in or something fucked up my AFM

and if you could post images that would be great

Hey I've got 2 89 GTS parts cars. I've driven them both so i'm pretty sure the AFM's are still good. If you can't find them anywere, I could send you the AFM and intake tube. Email me if interested snidley7@hotmail.com.
PS. I'm from MB

do you really need an adaptor? i have mine sealed on there w/ a hose clamp and a rubber thing that fits over the pipe and the AFM.... its the same thing you would use to connect 2 pipes together on an intake...

^^whatever works for you id like to see how you did it ? but ive got the adapter and makes life really easy. you wanted to know what the mechanic meant by a southern tank ? my best guess would be is that he realized how old your car is and thought a nice rust free tank from cali or sumwhere warm would be used/but rust free

BTW, here's the pics I promised. Both my setups, Bigport has a cone filter (which looks like it might need a wash soon but still works fine) and the Smallport has a mushroom type foam filter. I prefer the sound that bigport makes over the smallport with the filter, once the motor opens up the TVIS butterflies the motor sounds like it comes alive where as the smallport doesn't make the sound... but its way faster
