I saw a 4AGE with a gold valve cover at the junkyard, It doesn't look like it was painted or anything. Is this like a TRD cover or did it come original from factory? it was an 88 ae92 GTS, so it's got me wondering now what this engine is got under those covers

maybe I'll go take it apart.

i've never heard or seen factory gold plated valve covers before.....

interesting, you should go check it out again, and see whats inside

BTW I just remembered the strut bar was also gold.. so I'm thinking engine bling too.

I've seen a gold cover 4age in an ae86 before... it was featured in a japanese magazine... didn't looklike it was painted... but it must mean something special...

hurry up and haul that engine out... u may be sitting on a golden nugget

yeah.. but how would I know the internals are better? I've never really seen inside my or any 4age for that matter.. so what if it's got like hks pistons and rods and chit like that.. I won't know unless I take them out and look for names..

Hmmm... Mabey you did find something special??? Damn. Thoe it is still kinda hard to say cuz anyone could just go out and get a nicer looking cam cover. Find another 4A-GE in that yard and pull the cam cover off and compare it to what is under the golden cam cover. I assume that performance cams should look different so you should be able to tell by sight? Thoe I my self have never really done anything with the engine yet so I might be wrong about what I assume. Ask on Club 4AG (www.club4ag.com) some one there should know about this kinda stuff.

The only way I belive to be 100% sure is disassemboly. At the least you can get your self some fancy cam covers just to be different.

"gold" valve covers are not some special edition 4age...its the "purple" ones!

sheesh...they're just gold painted covers.

hehehe.. well I HAVE been drinking a lot lately.. since I'm off work, so that would explain it..

the purple covers are awesome! but the gold ones even though painted are kinda rare too wouldn't you say.

no, the baby blue ones are for a tri-charge setup with a vortec t04 on a 4agttze!
