Driving lights to marker lights

(Sorry the title was supposed to read Marker Lights to Turn signals)

Since i was able to find 2 clear covers for my turn signals. I was thinking about re wiring them so they would then be my driving lights. Then both of the marker lights (white and orange) would be my turn signals. Good idea? Any thoughts?

Any input as to why i shouldnt do this would be greatly appreciated

Read the Corolla forum sticky. There's a link to a thread on how to do it there.

That not exactly what im trying to do. The sticky doesnt have anything either.

I just want to change the wiring between the marker lights with the turn signals. So they do eachothers function

on the sr5... I would say because the marker lights are famous for having the contacts wear out and aren't sealed so water gets in and gets the mirror crap making it not so bright
I think It would be cooler if you made them both run as running lights AND blinkers

Only 4 lights while driving?? What about cars with fog lights and side markers and headlights?

Oh, and to quote the sticky...

Ya thats not what im trying to do.

And i remember where i read that rule

ANYHOW, ON with the topic, since nobody had any reason why.

Rules with lights, you are not allowed to have, Blue light in front of the Vehicle becuz they are used on Snow removal Vehicles and only allowed on Snow Removing Vehicles.

You are not allowed to have Red lights in Front of the Vehicles becuz only Emergency vehicles such as popo, Ambulance, Fire trucks can have them.

anything else, is ok. Yellow, green, purple, white, amber etc etc.

The ticket costs are $90 +tax =$110.

Other stuff are you can only have no more than 4 Light in front of the vehicle, inclucing parking Lights, so putting on extra Fog lights are illegal as well if you already have 4 lights in front.

Other things are, in Ontario, your Vehicle is Considered Lowered if the bottom of the head lights are below 60cm from the ground. so they can not give you a ticket for too low if your car is lowered only an inch etc etc.

The amount of light from those things is minimal, even with a clear cover. At best all your going to do is piss off everyone in front of you at stoplights because the light from a marker (or signal ) lamp isn't focused and it may glare in their mirror. But for using them as a means of augmenting your vision at night? Forget it.

Ya im not doing it to increase the brightness when driving. I just though it would be something different to do, and wanted to know if anyone else had done it.

Leave it as they are. Already too many distractions on the road, don't add to it.

well liter when it comes to lighting unless your replacing the stock ones fully changing their function to something they weren't designed to do can be a bad idea. Turn signals are not aimed at people faces but are pretty bright and have a larger bulb. where as a markerlight has a smaller bulb and is dimmer, so god knows if they cared to aim it anywhere since it's not bright enough to do anything

i have an ae92 sedan, and i was thinking of doing this too, but my front turn signals are 1156 bulbs (with only one contact, therefore do not light up when the parking lights are on) can i still do this with my sidemarkers? the instructions i believe are based on dual contact (1157, etc) bulbs with parking light and turn signal filaments. thanks in advance!
