2T/3T to 20R/22R

I have looked and got a few vague answers. Can a R motor (20/22) be swapped inplace of a T motor(2/3) without modifing the transmission mounting holes.

2T/3T engines use a T-50 tranny, whereas the 20R/22R models use the W series (W50/57/58) tranny.

You might want to research in using a W-type bellhousing to use with your T-50 tranny.

Unfortunatly I can't do that as the 2T motor is mounted to an adapter to a Volkswagen transaxle. I ask mainly because these adapters cost upwards of $350.

Wink

Understood.
They are expensive unfortunately.

Your best bet is to go with a W57/58 tranny with your swap.

They are decently priced and can be used in your swap in place of the present T-50.

i agree with toyrolla. plus a W series tranny is way stronger than T50s especially the 20 spline T50 from a 2/3T engine.

I can't use either of those. The motor I plan on using comes with an adapter to mount it to my Volkswagen Transaxle. I was curious if the 20R/22R have the same mounting locations were the transmission would bolt up.
