I just bought a 86 corolla gts.
I have to swap the engine since it's pretty old..
Do u know where I can do the swap?
And wat's my engine code now? 4age something?
and wat's 4AGZEU....um..seomthing...
i KNOW nothing about toyota's and start to learn now.
I need to change suspension, header and exhaust as well.. since i don't think i can pass the emission test and certify...
Do some reading in the reference section of http://www.club4AG.com, and start out with a good game plan before you start thinking of swapping in parts.
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I was under the impression that if you fail the E-test, you spend $200 trying to fix stuff to get it to pass, and if you still fail, you don't have to do anything more??
so you can get your car on the road for the price of 2 e-tests plus $200.. an engine swap will cost you at least $1000 if you pay someone to do it
(the previous owner of my car replaced the stock blue top 4age with a JDM blue top, cost of the engine plus installation was $1200)

Sorry maybe i'm too dump or something...
I don't get what u mean though....I don't have to do anything? spent 200 bucks? wat's all that?
Also Blue top? I don't see there's reference about BLUE top @club4ag.com
btw....1200 for a engine swap....that's so reasonable too.... where i can do it?
1. go to club4ag
2. READ
3. after you are done, go to the reference section and READ some more.
4. if you find yourself skimming through the pages. stop. take a break for 5 mins, and get back to reading.

check out the "pros and cons of different 4ages, what should I install?" (or something like that) in the reference section at club4ag.com
i think it talks a bit about a blue top/red top..
a blue top is the common name for the stock engine that came in the ae86's and early ae92's
it's got lower compression and TVIS.. those are the big differences.. red tops don't have TVIS and have higher compression. .those came in the later ae92's
as for the 200$ thing, I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that you only are obligated by law to spend a MAX of $200 to try to pass emissions..
if you spend $200 buying a new cat and muffler or whatever, and you still fail the test, it doesn't matter. (i could be wrong, but that's what I heard)
Yup dude, please read in-depth, and build a good understanding of all things 4AG, and AE86. If you think the 20V only fits the FWD Corollas, then you really have to read carefully. I'm not trying to scold you or anything, but it'll make conversations easier, because we'll be on the same level.
Ken's car is not for sale, as far as I know. I know that he's considering selling his rims tho
