Post Couple Questions

I have a 1995 Prizm with 1.6 and have a couple questions.

I have a slight vibration when at idle, is there a way to KNOW for sure that I have bad motor mount(s)? Because I looked them over and they didnt appear to be broken.

Also when I down-shift and turn left I get a ticking/clicking from my front pass. tire, what would casue this?

Thank you

If it's any consolation we have two mid 90s Corollas w/ the same prob. Heavy vibration just off idle. Sounds like something in the fender but when in car it transfers to the whole body. I think it's the pass. side engine mount. I have taken them off and inspected and it looks fine. I started the cars w/ the mount off and Voila'. Vibration gone. BUT they are high and I have no guarantee that this is really it. Is this just the transfer point for a engine vibe???I dunno. I may try buying one to see if it fixes it. Yer ticking is a CV joint going out.

AE92 the clicking may be.

a failed Constant Velocity Joint. Usually aflicted when turning the opposite direction from the tire with the noise.

the clicking noise might be a wheel bearing
Jack the car up and try to wiggle the tires if they move and the rest of the car doesn't a number of things coule be wrong. Inner or outer tie rods, wheel bearing, or a ball joint.

I had my buddy put the car on the lift and we looked everything over. The CV's were dry and he said in his honest opinion they were fine.

The only thing that we didnt try was lifting the car off its tires and doing the "wiggle method."

I will do that tomorrow and will update the thread after I do so.

I will take that engine mount off to see if thats the problem. If it is, will I need an entire mount or just the rubber bushing?

Thanks guys for your help

I hav'nt seen where you could buy just the rubber. Have to get the whole mount.(Not the part on the engine tho).I still hav'nt changed mine, I'd better tho cause it's shaking the whole car to death at 1000 RPM. Fine above and below.

change yer mount yet, if so please post the results. I'm dreading the outlay of cash just to try but noise is driving me more bonkers. Couple of shops(3 total) have looked at my sisters and passed on wanting to try to isolate prob. Said they'd spend more time looking than fixing so they did'nt want to try. One mech said it's a heat sheild. I said "Do heat sheilds vibrate through your butt" He told me to leave. I was just tryin to tell him it vibrates in the drivers seat.

Im sorry for not posting eariler, but I crashed my car a day after responding to my thread. I've been busy finding parts and doing as much as I can before I take it in to the body shop to get finshed.
