USA K&N air filter

I have a 94 corolla and was thinking about buying a K&N air filter for it, and i dont know whether it would be worth buying one. I was wondering if anyone had put one in their corolla and how it effected it?

It will be better and worse than a regular filter in many ways.

A. It will improve mileage and peformance at least somewhat noticeably (not as much as they say though)
B. You can wash it and re-use it
C. However you will have to buy a K&N filter charger kit that will last you a few times, it comes with the filter soap and the recharging oil.

The only choice you have now is actually which type to get, drop-in replacement or cone filter. Cone filter would involve removing the airbox and maybe an adapter plate depending on whether your car is got an AFM or not, and maybe getting an Intake tube. Whereas the drop-in is what it is, just a drop in replacement for the OEM filter.

and be sure not to drive on too many dusty roads as it is easy for dust to pass through it

I have had a drop in K&N in my 03 for a couple years now and unless you have testing equipment and really keep track of you MPG before and after installing you can't really tell because so many other factors determine your gas mileage and I think the HP boost is minimal and insignificant...I bought mine on line for $35 and the only advantage that I see is not having to $$$ to replace your OEM filter every year or so...The recharge kit cost me $7.99 and I can get maybe 5 cleanings out of a can...just don't use hot water or any hard water spray on the filter when cleaning....Radd Guy...

I've heard K&N's mess up MAF sensors on MB's, is this true for Toyotas?

Just make sure you lube it so it can trap dirt, if you don't it's useless.

There's no grease involved, its a simple thing to do normally once a year and takes about 15 minutes ...The 1" nut on the oil filter is a nice feature but I think the K&N oil filer is just a over priced average filter. I would rather stick with a Wix, Napa or Mobil 1...just my opinion...Radd Guy.....

Some stock engines lose power when a K&N is installed. Today's finely tuned computerized engines work as a system, so altering anything could adversely affect performance.
Not saying this is the case with a 94 Corolla, but it could be.

Yeah, the nut is what I was referring to. Just seems like a nice idea. I'm using Mobil 1 oil and filter though. But when I saw the nut on that thing I thought of the Guiness commercial...."genius"!
