Hey yall, just have a question. Looking at a 2001-2002 Corolla S. Trying to figure out an upgrade path.
Well, I know that the 5 Speed in the Corolla has a 3.722 Final Drive Ratio. Do you think there would be much benifit in swapping in a MR-2 spyder transmission (4.312 FD)? I understand that gas mileage would suffer on the hwy, but I wonder how much this would help acceleration. Also, I wonder if the corolla mounts can be used. Has anyone heard of this?

It won't help very much. You have to modify the linkage to make it work. The Corolla mounts will work. Not worth it, IMHO. Go for a 2ZZGE swap, that's worth it.

Yeah, I am planning on the 2zz swap, but im not going to bother with headache of the 6 speed. The gearing on the corolla 5 speed seems a little too long for a NA application. Just looking at the possibilities... Thanks though!
