What are the d2 and L for on my automatic corolla? And what would be the best gear to try peeling out if my car can even do it...? Also what would the best way to peel out with auto? I have a 97 rolla
Since I'm new to this forum, I'll try to help him.
2 is to limit your transmission to use the first 2 gears only.
L is to limit your transmission to use only the first gear.
Your car is not designed with the power to peel out, so don't.
You can Neutral Drop to possibly chirp your tires. Only people that don't care about their car at all will do this since it's a great way to get a transmission repair bill.
You put the car in neutral, give it a bit of gas, then drop it into D. The reason I'm telling you this is so you'll NEVER do a neutral drop.

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.
--Can honestly go to a parts counter and ask for brake shoes for the front brakes.

Take my word for it, the only way to spin the tires on that car is to crank the wheels far to one side, then floor it. But like everyone said, just don't. Now that I have told you the gutless car secret, please don't find out the hard way. Buy the way you must already know automatics suck
yes you can shift and yes it will eventually mess it up as its only meant to be shifted occasionally and not under load like when you're driving fast.
Shifting by hand is no different then auto. Under load the auto will up shift later. Only problem is over rev if you shift too late. Up shifting by hand won't kill the tranny. On the other hand down shifting might but it'll kick down when you floor it anyway. You can't really put any more load on the tranny then what it got. It won't up shift or down shift unless its at right rpm. Yea I tried that, throwing it all the way to L at 100km/h won't get it to shift to 1st and blow the engine..
The L and D2 are for hills mostly so you either dont have to stay on the brakes as much or keep it in a lower gear so it doesnt have to keep shifting if your going uphill.....
If ur talking to me, I got an automatic because it was given to me for free by my grandparents. They bought it brand new and gave it to me in january of thid year with only 50,000 miles on it
