yes...as long as the lift is not too high, just add stiffer springs and away you go.
I've heard 8.3 is the limit, but some guys say you can go higher with no probs, if you want to get to the bottom of this, give Rich a call at tedcomponents.com, he knows valvetrains inside and out, and also sells some nice grinds made from new blanks (not regrinds) for a reasonable price ($400 US/pair), he'll also custom grind to your desired application.
I wouldn't go higher than 288 if your gonna run on the street at all.
Keep in mind that you should not get any more spring than necessary, since they add alot of resistance, and can reduce the revability and horsepower if you go overkill. Strong springs also cause drastically accelerated cam wear.
You may want to go with something like a 276 with a fresh set of stock springs, but that would probably limit you to ~7500 rpm before float.
