91 4A-GE ecu on a 90 4A-FE?

HI, I would like to know if anyone has tried to use 91 4A-GE ecu on a 90 4A-FE engine? I bought a GTS shell from a guy who has his ECU modded. By the way they are both for manual trans mission if that helps with your answer. I dont wanna waste it so Im trying to find out if its possible to do that. Sorry for these type of question guys. I dont know too much about toyotas. so Im learning.

my 4afe ecu runs my 4age just fine

HOWEVER you would need the 4age electronics.... you will lose power because you'll switch to AFM

I mean the other way around. I was told by a friend that a 4afe ecu would work on a 4age but I just need to know if it works the other way around too.

Its probably possible to get it to work, would be a bit of a PITA to get it running right, and i'm not sure that you would make any noticable gain.

i answered your question how you asked it.

(to put it in simpler terms)

to use a 4age ecu on your 4afe..... your 4afe would need to be outfitted with the 4age electronics to run properly (otherwise the ecu won't run correctly). Which is:

a) going to be a lot of work if you don't know what you're doing
b) you'll need the exact correct 4age ecu (yes, it matters)
c) you'll lose power because your intake will have been restricted
