Tach Gauge

I have purchased and mounted an aftermarket tach gauge. I did a search to find the signal wire for the tach, yet I am still clueless. I looked at the distributor and I saw 2 connectors....none containing a solid balck wire. The car is a 99 corolla. Any help in locating an easy signal wire would be appreciated. Also where is the dimmer switch wire located (and color)?

So, I tore into the dashboard and found the black wire connected to the gauges. Now my tach gauge works, but I need to find a light switch of some sort to attach the white wire that turns the back light on and off. Where the heck is the dimmer switch, or what wire do i tap into on my light stalk?

Do you want it to come on with the parking lights or the headlights?
