This normally happen in winter?

I start my Corolla now and then so it won't get ****ed up during the winter. I let it run for about 20-30 min every few weeks. Latley for the first 5 min it will idle at 2,000rpm! But it will drop down to 1,200rpm 3 minuets or so after the 5 minuets of 2,000 rpm idleing.

Does this mean I have to get my choke adjusted? Or is this a normal thing for winter? Or is there something else wrong?

You think that's bad? Lately, in the cold, my car will idle in excess of 3200 RPM! I'm beginning to think there is something going on. :

if it does not go beyond 2000 that's normal....its to get your engine hot quicker and to get oil in the cams area....

and when the engine is hot a "normal" idle is about 700 to 1100 rpm....

on the way down it may stop at 1500 or 1200 an then go to your normal idle....

if it's really cold mine goes to about 2700rpm.. but usually for choke, it will idle around 2000 or so.. but i remember in the summer it used to idle really weird too.. sometimes i would get off the highway and it would stay at 1500 rpm.. then sometimes it would go down to like 500 and the car almost wants to stall when I take off. weird if you ask me.. must be something to do with the intake.

Mine idles around 1800 on cold start. after when engine is warm.. about 700-800.. I've never seen it go over 2000 because my car is always subjected to a + 5 degree C in winter.. (my car is fortunate to be in a garage whenever it's not on the road)
