In this swap should I expect any issues? This is for a customer and they supplied the engine. Going to use the 7AF harness and ECU. Should I swap anything between the engines? I expect it to just be a drop in but asking to be safe.
Thanks
Bill
So what are you doing, a 7A-F conversion from a 4A-F? or 7A-FE from a 4A-F.
Things are different if you're putting injection or not. You gotta be more specific.
There is no carbed 7AFs therefore you got a 7AFE (the E means fuel injected), what Flashmn means is that IF you're going from a 4AF to a 7AFE then you got problems as the 4AF is carbed. BUT if you're going from a 4AFE to a 7AFE then you shouldn't have too many problems. Got it now????
there both extremely similar a couple things i can add:
- if its 5spd 7afe starter on the back, while 4afe is on the front but trans should work fine
- EGR's, depending on the particulars of the engine they may and may not have one if your going from with to without or vise versa there could be some issues with ECU's.
- computers are a different part numbers acctual differences?????
- Deck height is 15mm or so different i doubt it will make any difference but...
- oil pan configuration is different....
Im guessing this is being done for lack of a quality 7A-FE as there oil guzzlers LOL

Actually a customer brought the engine to our shop and wants it installed. I was just being lazy not typing the E, both are injected. Thanks for the notes about the starter and oil pan. I've swapped a few Tercel engines now but this is my first Corolla.
Actually no, its from IRC, there was some other guy with FlashmAn as his nick, but I guess he was gey because I was getting harassed by GUYS, so I dropped the A out and no more problems.
