2003 Corolla engine

Is the engine that comes in the 2003 Corolla a new engine/new design? Or is it borrowed from another platform? If so how long has it been around?

the engine itself is the 1zz-fe

it was in the previous model of corolla 98-99 and 2000-2002

the 98 -99 was non VVTI it had 120hp
the 2000-2002 was VVTI with 125hp
the 2003 is VVTI with 130hp

its shared with the celica GT with 140hp
and in the US with the mr2 spider(model we dont have in canada) at 138hp

and not to forget the matrix and pontiac vibe have it to at 130hp
and 124hp for the awd....

Correction - Still confused

Toymaniac & Fenxil, according to the specs (Brochures) I will correct, unless you are sure yourselves on the engines. I've looked at both brochures for the Celica 03 and Corolla 03 and they are indeed different engines.

03 Celica is a 1ZZ-FE 140 HP.

03 Corolla is a 1MZ-FE 130 HP.

they are not the same engines. am I wrong ?....because I've ordered a Corolla 03 LE and will be getting it in late Feb. If I'm wrong thats great, I'll be getting a Celica engine (because I have a Celica already) if not, well, the 1MZ-FE is just as good with 130 HP.

Comments ?

Harvey.

1MZ is a 3.0L V6 man. The 'rolla and celica are indeed 1ZZ cars.

Wrong engine designation in 03 Corolla Brochure.

Deep, I swear, this is a printout from the 03 Corolla brochure from www.toyota.ca, I guess the brochure is incorrect. The screen capture didn't do a good job from Toyotas PDF. I'm getting a Celica engine, you don't know how happy I feel right now.

Take my word Harvey, its the same motor in the Matrix XR/Celi GT and 'Rolla. Most parts for the Celi and Matrix fit the 'Rolla with little or no mods, that includes the TRD S/C.

Congrats on the new car
(hope you got the 5spd)

Well, it would seem that Toyota Canada is staffed by morons. Not only are they trying to send Harvey misinformation, they sent both me and Corolla_Dude (from CC) the wrong brochures. He got a Corolla one, and I got a Sienna one. WTF? We wanted Celica ones.

Harvey, ask the lady if that's the same 1MZ-FE that comes in the Sienna.

Toyota is not getting off easy on this one.

Since, I'm a Toyota Corporate ciitizen, I'm going to rag on Toyota to fix the misprint. I've directed the Toyota lady to check out the 03 Highlander brochure, it indeed shows the 1MZ-FE as a 3.0 V6. I'm that kinda guy, I'm not letting this go easily.

Harvey.
