heater blowing cold

when winter started, the heater worked fine and was blowing warm air after 10+ min while the car was on, now that winter is almost finish, but it was still cold, so i turned on the heater, and after 10 mins, it was still cold, is this normal? should I wait 20+ mins for the car to start blowing hot air? or what? thanks

Try back flushing or reverse flushing the system. this seems to help.

The way i did mine was i bought a garden hose end repair kit at the store then wraped the barb with electrical tape to match the heater hose's size then put it in the out hose and clamped it now with the other disconnected run the hose for a few minutes, (catch the first bit as it has antifreeze in it) now change the heater hose its all connected to so it runs in proper direction, now flush again then switch it backwards again and flush. Alternate till the water runs clean. then blow out the excess water with air or your mouth reconnect everything then top off the system.

Fill it till it wont take more coolant then run it with the cap off until it gets to temp and when the thermostat opens finish toping it off, dont forget to fill the overflow bottle.

Also if the condition of your heater is questionable this could take away sludge thats keeping it from leaking...

Could be the heather core is plugged or the thermostat isnt working propely. COuld be a few things. Check to see if the collant lines gopuing into the heater core form the engine bay are warm, if they are not, then its probley the thermostat thats not working.

For your sake, I hope it's not the heater core--especially if you have A/C. Replacing it is a gigantic PITA. Like these guys have said, try changing the thermostat first (it can't hurt, has to be done peridically anyway) and flush the lines. Maybe even disconnect the hoses running to and from the heater core inlet/outlet pipes, check for clogs/kinks...

Also: put your hand down in the air blowing at your feet---does it warm-up faster than the air blowing from the dash? If so, your core is clogged (trust me, I know this.....).

Best of luck!
