impact wrench - electric

What brand do you guys use? and what are the advantages?
I am looking to buy one, corded -- coz cordless one is expensive as hell and i dont need a cordless one. I work in my garage only.

If i were you i would buy a small compressor and a pnematic impact, then you would have the compressor for other tools aswell, well worth it! PS you dont need a huge, expensive compressor to do hobby type work.

True and a lot of cheap used ones out there(doesn't have to be new to work good), there is a bunch or permanent flea markets out this way and in warm weather I see some vendors selling pneumatic tools at 1/4th the price of new...Also a air compressor has so many other uses!...good luck...Radd Guy....

how much hp/psi would you need for torquing wheels and stuff... I'm thinking of getting one when we buy a house.. or like I say.. a garage with a house attached to it.

A small compressor will do the job, But you will have to wait for the pressure to build up again after each use.

Can get annoying if you use it regularly.

Which is exactly why I don't feel it's worth it. By the time the thing is pumped and ready... I could have the job done already. If you need to put serious torque, that little compressor and weak gun won't do anyways, so I'd put that money into good hand tools instead.

I don't have an electric impact wrench yet, but you often see them used at Auto Parts stores, liike Checker, where they don't run a compressor. They have no trouble doing jobs like removing alternator pulleys.

Most good compressors can be filled up to top pressure and kept that way for a long time till you need/use it, its not like its empty and you have to build the pressure up every time you need to use it...Then as you use the air the comressor kicks on and builds the pressure back up so you can continue working with your air tool .....Radd Guy..

This weekend, I got the 54mm nut off my RX7's flywheel, with my 77 dollar electric impact, I got from Princess Auto, it was torqued to 350ftlbs. Only downfall of the electric impact is the size of it, makes changing wheels alot eaiser, and take up less space if you don't have a huge garage.

thanks guys,
My friend has a big ass air compressor. AND it is very loud, especially if we are working on cars late at night. Thats why we need an electric one. I went to sears and saw this craftsman electric impact wrench (corded). It produces 345 lb ft torque, and thats enough for what we need. But if you guys go to ebay and type in "electric impact wrench", the result is overwhelming. THERE ARE TONS of cheaper impact wrenches, the price goes down to $9.99, and it has the same specification. Are those worthed?? Have any of you guys tried like crap ass brand for electric impact?? like the one on ebay?? Coz I know like other brand like milwakee, dewalt, husky or craftman cost like a lot more..
what do you guys think??

When useing a rattle gun or die grinder they use alot of air, I can run my die grinder for maybe 30 secs on my small compressor. Then I have to wait 30-40 secs to build up pressure again.

As said above its faster with real tools. (Doesn't sound as cool though)

You get what you pay for. The crap brands will give you more trouble than they're worth. IMO, buy a good quality brand, just buy a used one.

I use my dad's compressor. think of it this way. The more you spend the more air it can hold. The less annoying it will be and the quicker you can go. We have a decent size one and it's annoying too because the air doesn't last very long.

and like they say, good for other tools such as grinders, ooo knumatic wratches YAY! lol

Eletric impact guys aren't strong enough most of the time.
